I really enjoyed the process. For this type of monochrome work, I usually use a Fine Liner but this time I went with pencil - 6b and 2b, a paper stump and eraser to try and create a misty, moonlit, dreamlike atmosphere. Having completed the card, I realised that it was equally suitable for anniversary, weddings or indeed any celebration of love. I was very pleased with the result: I hope you are too.

This Romantic Gothic/ Victorian Anniversary Print is available as an A5 or A6 Greetings Card, an A5 or A4 print, mounted or not and as a framed print. It is ideal as a Gothic wall-hanging or as an A5 or A6 Greetings Card. The card has been left blank inside and comes with a lilac or white envelope and protective cello bag. A small hand-written message in a Celtic calligraphy style can be added if you so wish; please indicate this in the 'Personalisation' section.

If you would prefer a framed print without the wording do get in touch and I can retouch the artwork.

Eternally

'As well as being the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’ and home to the twice-yearly Whitby Goth Weekend, the ancient port of Whitby, with its ruined abbey, rugged coastline, cobbled streets and heather-clad moorland, has everything of the Romantic about it.

Thus it seemed the perfect setting for the Gothic Valentine/Anniversary artwork I’ve made here.'

I'd been wanting to create a Gothic Valentine's day card for some time: I believe that of all the musical sub-genres, Goth appreciates Romance more than most because of its heritage (if anyone you know is in disagreement please send them away to read 'Dracula' or 'Wuthering Heights' or ask them to listen to the Sister's 'Marianne' or 'Nine While Nine').

So over a couple of weeks I played with several ideas in my sketch book before putting them down on paper. It was actually my wife, who came up with the idea, having seen a photo of a ghostly couple in a graveyard.

I believe in the idea that love is stronger, and outlasts, death and that we are so much more than the physical; we are spiritual beings, and I hope 'Eternally' reflects this in some small way.
